I provide online NLP coaching, mindset coaching and hypnotherapy to clients on a 1 to 1 basis where we identify the cause, or trigger, of the challenge facing the client. 

Emotions and the Subconscious Mind

We experience events throughout our lives, from the first moment we are born, until this very moment today. These events can be big or small, important and unimportant depending on out own perception at the time. This is how we LEARN about life. Our experiences through life are stored as memories for us to access later. We REMEMBER the past events so we can understand and use the information now.

However, importantly, when the memory is stored in our mind, the EMOTION we felt at the time can also be stored as part of this memory. This creates a record of our perception of the event. How we felt about what happened is stored within the memory.

If a memory is triggered by a new experience, the stored emotion may be accessed also. This emotion can flood throughout the body as a positive feeling or a negative feeling and, in effect, cause us to RE-LIVE the emotional experience from the past.

Importantly, however, this can occur CONSCIOUSLY or UN-CONSCIOUSLY.

Why does this matter and what is the un-conscious mind?

It is calculated that approximately 90% of our lives are run by our unconscious mind, our autopilot.

It takes care of the routine, uninteresting things that we do such as walking, brushing our teeth, drinking our cup of coffee or even breathing while we are thinking about other things that are more important and interesting to us at the time. Have you ever driven to work and realised you can’t remember the journey? Or walked to the local shop only to realise you meant to go somewhere else? This is because your subconscious took control while your conscious mind thought about something more interesting.

However, emotions can sometimes be released by this unconscious mind. This is why we can sometimes feel the emotion but we don’t know why!

We can suddenly feel stressed, angry or afraid.

We have been ‘triggered’ by something!
